About Melanie

My name is Melanie Law and I identify as a Bhakti teacher, student, seeker, storyteller, sacred chanter, mentor, and Mother of two.

My journey began in the mid-90s in the spiritual community of the Shoshoni Institute near Boulder, CO. I fell in love with the ashram way of life, participating in chanting, yoga, meditation, and seva. I had discovered something that resonated with my deepest inner longing and I instantly knew I had found my path. In 1995 I attended Shishoni’s teacher’s training program in Hatha Yoga with a strong emphasis on developing a spiritual practice. Six months later my life had radically changed and the seeds were planted for my devotional life to unfold.

Shortly after completing my yoga training I discovered Sharon and David Life’s Jivamukti Yoga in NYC where my passion for weaving the classical traditions with creative flow, music, aromatherapy, and spiritual texts was ignited. During this time I met Krishna Das and was introduced to the lineage of Neem Karoli Baba. I immediately bought a harmonium and began chanting in my classes back home in Telluride. I didn’t know it at the time but the course had been set for my Bhakti offerings to grow wings. In 1998 I opened a yoga studio in Telluride, CO (now the Telluride Yoga Center) where I shared my love of these yoga traditions with hundreds of students in the Telluride region. In 2002 I completed Richard Freeman’s Ashtanga teacher’s training further adding to my depth of knowledge in the classical traditions. In 2003 I sold the Telluride studio to become a full-time mother to my two beautiful sons Jonah and Ruben Kornbluh.

Devotional Life

In 2014 I attended my first Bhakti/Kirtan camp with Jai Uttal and ever since been on a non-stop train of studying and teaching all things Bhakti. I currently own and operate the Ridgway Yoga Shala and offer weekly yoga classes and kirtan in the beautiful mountains of Ridgway, CO. I offer seasonal Bhakti workshops and retreats both in-person and online.

While I’ve had many different yoga influences throughout the years, the teachings of my Guru, Neem Karoli Baba and the traditions of Bhakti Yoga are the cornerstone of my life and practice. Chanting the Hanuman Chalisa is part of my daily practice along with other life-saving mantras.

For almost 30 years I have studied, practiced, and shared the traditions of Bhakti Yoga.

It is my passion to share the tools of yoga, mantra, mythology, and the many wonderful traditions of India. All of my classes, workshops, and kirtans invite participants into the rich terrain of the Sacred to discover what wants to be met there. I hold a deep, nurturing space for students to open up to the strength, empowerment, and receptivity of their own true nature. Students learn how to truly apply their life challenges to the Sadhana (practice) and surrender over and over again to something higher.

“With an uncanny ability to feel what wants to be spoken, Melanie’s Bhakti yoga hits home to the practitioner who is ready to dive into the deeper realms of their practice.”
